Enterprise design for logistics

I am helping Kuehne + Nagel to improve and to mature their Shipment Visibility platform by making it easier to use, clearer to navigate and better aligned with what customers really need.

Functionality is king

The platform supports complex workflows and a wide range of functionalities. Redesigning it means dealing with a high density of features and dependencies. From a UX perspective, the challenge is to structure this complexity in a way that feels logical and predictable, without hiding essential options. Design decisions are based on use cases, frequency of use, and impact on existing workflows, with a strong focus on information architecture, prioritisation, and consistency.

From start-up to scale-up

With my arrival, the project moved into a more mature phase. The focus shifted from building and extending features directly in code, to strengthening the foundation and improving the overall user experience; a natural step from a start-up to a scale-up mindset.

In the first phase, my work centres on redesigning existing flows and functionalities. The goal is to make the platform easier to understand and more consistent to use, while staying largely within the current backend and architectural constraints. This phase is about improving clarity and usability without disrupting what already works.

Alongside this, I work with stakeholders across product, business, and customer teams to improve how design decisions are made. Through workshops and user interviews, we align on user needs, constraints, and priorities, and translate these insights into clear design guidelines. These guidelines help ensure the platform remains consistent, scalable, and future-proof.

Building on this foundation, the project moves into the next phase: existing functionalities are revisited more fundamentally and enriched with new concepts that strengthen the platform and support its continued growth. The focus shifts from optimisation to exploration, while respecting the robustness and value of what is already in place.
